Grab on to a Rare Find with the Chanel Chocolate Bar Handbag

Dating back to ancient China and Japan staining of the nail was a popular sign of beauty, and even the ancient Egyptians stained nails with henna.

However, today´s modern nail polish was originally a by-product. The Charles Revson (Revlon) Company had employed Michelle Menard (a make-up artist) to develop nail enamel. Inspiration came to him with the enamel used on autos and he speculated if the same techniques could be used to create nail polish.

The product proved to have potential and the corporation began to manufacture  nail polish in 1932. The polish was sold only through beauty and hair salons at first. It was only later on in 1937, that nail polish began to sell through department stores and drug stores as a they match to lipsticks collections.

The divas of the movie industry began to wear nail polish. By coincidence, Technicolor was also showing color in films. Most movies were now in color and all the actresses of the 1930's featured Revlon's nail polishes in all the Hollywood Celebrity Magazines. The women that followed them flocked to buy the product. Nail polish was fairly cheap and sales soared, that soon after other cosmetics houses followed with the successful formula to sell nail polish too.

The trend is nail colors for Spring 2012 are leaving the unusual of brights, blacks and blues to the "new" naturals of cream, soft pastels and beige, along with retro reds and corals.
